Rex sacrorum. Note Shackleton Bailey's suggestion (Studies 25-26), made because the praenomen Lucius was banned among the patrician Claudii (Suet. Tib. 1.2), that the gentilicium of the rex sacrorum of 57 (Har. Resp. 12; but cf. Dom. 127 a gentili tuo) should possibly be emended to L. Cloulius, perhaps a descendant of P. Cloelius Siculus, who was appointed rex sacrorum in 180. But the rex is addressed as a gentilis of Clodius in Dom. 127. Shackleton Bailey, Onom., has withdrawn his suggestion and accepts L. Claudius.
